The NBBF/Zenith Women’s Elite Basketball league tipped off on the 22nd of August 2023 with the Jos Indoor Sports Hall of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports buzzing ever since the tournament commenced.
Jos is the venue for the Savannah Conference Phase 1 of the league where six basketball teams are competing for a slot in the final playoff. The Northern teams consist of Kada Angels Basketball Club, Nigeria Army Basketball Club, Nigeria Customs Basketball Club, Plateau Rocks Basketball Club, Nasarawa Amazons Basketball Club and Air Warriors Basketball Club.

After Day 4 and 4 games played, Nigeria Customs Basketball Club are yet to lose a game with one game in hand to wrap up phase 1 of the Zenith Women’s Elite Basketball league, and the head Coach is optimistic going into the last game in Jos against the Plateau Rocks who have lost only a game in 4.
In an Interview with ACLSports, Mohammed Abdulrahman Customs head Coach had a lot to say about the big game of the last day against Plateau Rocks. “I think it’s going to be tough considering the fact that they just dropped a game against Air Warriors. It’s a team we’ve always respected and we watched them play today.
“If there is one thing we always want to avoid, it is a team that lost a game ahead of playing them. It is going to be a cracker but we are looking forward to it and that’s what we are here for,” Mohammed added.
Solomon Rinson the Plateau Rocks head coach pointed out that the game is not over in in a postmatch interview after losing 57-48 to Air Warriors in Game 4.

“We are really going to prepare because we lost today doesn’t mean that the game is over. As a sports person you always have that determination to struggle for a goal, you don’t just give up because you lost one game.”
“Yes, we know they are one of the strong teams and they have not lost any game yet but we are determined, they are determined and we are determined too,” Coach Solomon said about his team’s matchup against Customs.
“Air Warriors have taken this game, so we want to press to make the next game so that we come second on the table,” he added in a statement to ACLSports ahead of their next game at the Zenith Women’s Elite Basketball league.
