Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders Lobi Stars were made to work extra hard before beating Sunshine Stars 1-0 in one of nine Match Day 20 games decided on Sunday.

Kehinde Adeyemi put through into his own net seventeen minutes from time to give Solomon Ogbeide’s men the maximum points and extend their lead on top of the table by five points.

The Pride of Benue still have a game in hand as they continue their assured journey towards a surprise league title.

Second placed Kano Pillars secured a 1-1 draw at basement side Heartland in a game decided behind closed doors. Okechukwu Nwadike gave the hosts the lead before Nyima Nwagua equalised for Pillars against the Naze Millionaires who were serving punishment for crowd violence in their last home game.

In Lagos, MFM FC ended Niger Tornadoes’ impressive unbeaten run by inflicting a 3-0 defeat on the Ikon Allah Boys. Sikiru Olatunbosun scored twice while super sub Chijioke Akuneto added a third for the Church Boys late on.

Katsina United are now third on the log after they beat Plateau United 1-0 despite being reduced to nine men late in the game. Destiny Ashadi scored the game’s only goal from the penalty spot but Abdullahi Biffo’s men had Chinedu Ajanah and Usman Balau sent off in the closing five minutes.
