Nigeria Super Eagle, Dennis Bonaventure has let off the lid on his goal celebration against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, UCL, on Tuesday.

Bonaventure netted a first half brace at the famous Santiago Bernabeu as Club Brugge let slip a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with their hosts.

The 21-year-old celebrated his goals by mimicking the famous celebration of former Madrid forward and legend, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking after the game, Bonaventure says he celebrated like the Portuguese star because he was upset when Ronaldo left the club for Juventus.

“Yes, I did a Cristiano Ronaldo goal celebration when I scored, ” he told uefa.com moments after the match.

“I’ve been a Cristiano fan forever and I was very upset when he left (Real) Madrid. So I decided that if I scored in the Bernabéu tonight that’s what I’d do.”

Bonaventure was in menacing form against the former European champions, with his goals taking his tally to three in as many UCL matches for his modest Belgian side, Club Brugge.

Despite playing for 71 minutes, the 21-year-old also completed more take-ons (3) than anyone on the Bernabeu pitch, which had the players like Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema.

According to him, his performance was simply down to their “hard” training and plan ahead of the trip to the Spanish capital.

“We train a lot, we train hard and we came here to make (Sergio) Ramos and (Raphael) Varane run ”

“They are defenders who don’t like to run! Most teams come here and play in a block, but we broke from the block and worked like mad.”

It was the first meeting between the two clubs in Europe since Brugge defeated the Los Blancos 2-0 on aggregate in the 1976/77 season.

However, this time, Brugge couldn’t hold on to their lead as they let slip Bonaventure goals to draw 2-2 as Sergio Ramos and Casemiro earned Madrid a point from behind.
