Niger United HC player, John Shagari, was the hero against Safety Shooters in the ongoing 2023 Ardova Handball Premier League on Saturday.

Due to his explosive performance against Safety Shooters, John Shagari was adjudged Most Valuable Player (MVP) on matchday six after a critical assessment from the technical officials of the league.

The former Rima Striker told www.aclsports.com that he feels like a hero who has redeemed himself from his terrible 7 metres throw against Kano Pillars on matchday 3.

He said, “I am super excited to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) on matchday 6 with my performance  against 2020 Champions, Safety Shooters.

“After Kano Pillars goalkeeper Ismaila Abdulwahab caught my 7 metres throw in the matchday three, I felt like a villain. I could not sleep that particular night because I failed to score a goal that could have given us bragging rights the Kano Pillars HC.

“When I eventually slept, I dreamt my coach was chasing me with balls and punished me by telling me to embark on a 7 metres throw throughout my dream. The MVP will be a motivating factor for me to continue giving my best to the team at all times”.

Shagari promised to put up a great game against Police Machines in their next match on Sunday.
