Karate: Benin Rep win 9th Zainab Saleh Int’l C’ship

Fédération Béninoise De Karaté (FBK-Do) has emerged champion of the 9th Zainab Saleh International Female Karate Championship in Lagos state with 13 medals, www.aclsports.com reports.

Fédération Béninoise De Karaté -Do bagged 6 gold; 3 silver and 4 bronze medals to win the 2023 Zainab Saleh International Female Karate Championship, Delta came second with 11 medals comprising 6 gold; 1 silver and 4 bronze while WSKF came third with 3 gold and 5 silver medals.

Ogun state and Golden Martial Art Academy settled for the fourth and fifth positions after winning 1 Gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze and 1 gold and 2 silver medals respectively.

Nigeria Police clinched the sixth position with 1 gold, 1 silver and bronze, closely followed by StrataBase which won 1 gold and 1 silver to emerge in the seventh position.

Eighth position went to Team FCT and Impact Karate Academy with 1 gold and 1 bronze respectively, as Lagos State clinched the tenth position with 2 silver and 2 bronze, while Karate Focus-NASK won 2 silver and 1 bronze to finish 11th position.

Amesco school won 1 silver medal to place 12th place, Supreme Shotokan International are 13th position with 3 bronze medals while Nigerian Association of Shotokan Karate (NASK) and Rein Karate Academy won two bronze medals each to jointly finish 14th position.

University of Lagos, Waza Shotokan Karate-Do Club, Budokan Academy and Nigerian Navy won 1 bronze medal respectively to finish 16th place.

10 teams did not win any medal; they are: Senshi Ryu Budo Martial Art, 5 Star Martial Arts, Bayelsa State, Dojo Kaizen- NASK, DojoCraft Academy, Feminine and Fitness Club, Nasarawa State, Samchi Karate Academy and Vicamen Karate Academy.
