Nigeria Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has signed a new long term contract with Premier League club Arsenal. The 22-year old who has been with the Gunners since age nine on Friday put pen to paper on the contract reported to be within the range of four to five years.

Iwobi, a full international with Nigeria was part of Nigeria’s squad to the last FIFA World Cup Russia where he featured in all three matches for the Super Eagles.

“It’s always been my childhood dream to represent Arsenal, from when I was young, and to get an extended contract is an amazing feeling,” Iwobi told the Arsenal website on Friday.

His manager Unai Emery also expressed delight at his club’s tying the nephew of footballing legend Jay-Jay Okocha to a lengthy deal.

“I’m very pleased Alex has signed a new contract with us. He is a great example of a player who can succeed from the Academy through hard work and I look forward to working with him and our other talented young players in the squad,” Emery also told arsenal.com

Iwobi has made ninety eight senior competitive appearances for Arsenal and only on Wednesday scored a decisive penalty for his side in a shootout victory over Chelsea in Dublin.
