The Disciplinary Board of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that it has fined and banned Tanzania head coach Adel Amrouche for bringing the Confederation to disrepute.

Amrouche caused a serious storm in his pre-match comments ahead of their Group F clash on Tuesday, tacitly claiming that the Moroccan Football Federation RFMF controls CAF and African Football.

The Algerian said: “We recognize Morocco’s strength as an African power. Our request for 2 pm kickoff was denied, forcing us to play at night. It seems in African football, certain powers wield such influence now. We must learn to compete not only on the pitch against big teams but now some invincible factors too,”

The 55-year old appeared before the CAF Disciplinary Committee on Thursday and the punitive measures against him and the Tanzanian Football Federation have been affirmed.

The CAF Disciplinary Board charged Tanzania Football Federation (“TFF”) and

Head Coach of Tanzania, Adel Amrouche for bringing CAF into disrepute following comments and allegations he made in the media about Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

“The Disciplinary Board found Mr Amrouche guilty in terms of Articles 82, 83, 84 and 131 of CAF’s Disciplinary Code and was given an eight match suspension.

“Tanzanian Football Federation was fined USD 10,000,” a CAF statement on Saturday read.

First assistant to Amrouche; Hemed Suleiman has been placed in temporary charge of the Taifa Stars of Tanzania and he will lead them out against the Chipolopolo of Zambia at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro, on Sunday.

Tanzania will be hoping to get their campaign back on track after the opening day hammering by Morocco. Apart from the absence of Amrouche, they will also have to make do without Shakhtar Donetsk star Novetus Dismas who was sent off in the defeat to the Atlas Lions.
